What equipment types are extracted?

Pumps, compressors, turbines, vessels, reactors, tanks, storage spheres, shell-and-tube exchangers, air coolers, fired heaters, columns, filters, packaged units, motors, and any other asset carrying a recognizable equipment tag. Rotating and static equipment both appear.

How does the equipment list differ from an instrument index?

An equipment list is one row per physical asset. An instrument index is one row per instrument tag. The two documents cross-reference: each equipment row carries a count and list of instruments wired to it, and each instrument row carries the equipment tag it monitors or controls.

Where does the linked-instrument count come from?

From the instrument data on the same drawing set. Every instrument is paired to the equipment tag it sits on, and the count rolls up to the equipment row automatically.

Can I cross-check against an existing equipment register?

Yes. Upload an existing equipment list as an Excel reference file. Tagsight cross-references the extracted rows against the register and flags assets that appear on the drawing but are absent from the register, and vice versa.

Does this work on scanned drawings?

Yes. Scanned, faded, and photographed P&IDs are supported alongside CAD-exported PDFs. You review and confirm the rows before export.

Tag dialects.

Each sheet's tag convention is read as-is. Tags are never silently rewritten to ISA. Multi-site projects with mixed conventions produce one merged equipment list, with every tag in the form it was drawn in.
