What valve types appear?

Control valves (TCV, FCV, PCV, LCV), on / off valves (XV, SDV, ESDV), manual valves (HV, gate, ball, butterfly), and safety relief (PSV, PRV). Each row carries the type, actuator, and fail position so the list is filterable for SIS work, shutdown sequences, or operator training.

How is fail position determined?

From the actuator symbol on the drawing. A spring-return pneumatic actuator with a closed-position spring reads as FC (fail closed); a spring-return on the open side reads as FO (fail open); double-acting actuators carry the noted last-position annotation when present. Manual valves carry NA.

Are valve sizes and pressure ratings extracted?

When annotated on the drawing or in an attached datasheet, yes. When absent, the row stays blank. Tagsight does not infer sizes from line size unless the drawing explicitly annotates the valve to match the line.

Is the valve list cross-referenced to the I/O list?

Yes. Actuated valves with an I/O signal appear in both documents, linked by tag. Edits to the actuator or fail position in one sheet are surfaced in the other for reconciliation.

Does this work on scanned drawings?

Yes. Scanned, faded, and photographed P&IDs are supported alongside CAD-exported PDFs.

Tag dialects.

Each sheet's tag convention is read as-is. Tags are never silently rewritten to ISA. Multi-site projects with mixed conventions produce one merged valve list, with every tag in the form it was drawn in.
