Moving off AutoCAD Plant 3D into structured tag data.
Read PDFs and scans directly. Produce the I/O list, equipment list, and line list without spec-sheet or project-file setup.
Two workflows, six decisions.
Where the Plant 3D workflow concentrates engineering effort, and where the Tagsight workflow concentrates it instead.
Teams transitioning off Plant 3D for the P&ID data side usually keep Plant 3D for what it does well: the 3D piping model, isometric drawing generation, clash detection. The P&ID data extraction routes through Tagsight in parallel.
The first pass picks an active project. PDFs already exported from Plant 3D drop into the workspace. The extraction produces the I/O list, equipment list, and line list. The engineering team compares those against whatever the Plant 3D Data Manager would have surfaced for the same project.
Once parallel runs confirm the extraction matches the output, new projects skip the spec-sheet setup entirely. Drawings come in, documents come out. Pre-Plant 3D scans run through the same pipeline.
