Fail position, in four codes.
The column process safety, commissioning and the cause and effect matrix all read. The dropdown offers these four; whether FL and FAI mean the same thing on your project is the legend's call.

Common questions
What is a valve list.
It is the project register of every valve, one row per valve tag, carrying the body type, the body and trim materials, the actuator, the fail position, and what the valve is there to do. Manual valves belong on it as much as actuated ones.
Why is fail position its own column.
Fail open, fail closed, fail locked and fail as-is change what the plant does when air or power is lost, so the value is read by process safety, by commissioning, and by the cause and effect matrix. Keeping it in its own dropdown column means it filters rather than hiding inside a description.
Do hand valves belong on the valve list.
Yes. A hand valve carries no wired signal, so it does not appear on the I/O list, and the valve list is the only register that accounts for it. The Actuator column holds Manual for those rows.
